And when you stand up to pray, forgive whatever you have against anyone, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your offenses. Mark 11:25 Love your enemies. Bless them that curse you. Do good to them that hate you. And pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. Matthew 5:44 Lord, isn't your creation wasteful? Fruits never equal the seedlings' abundance. Springs scatter water. The sun gives out enormous light. May your bounty teach me greatness of heart. May your magnificence stop me from being mean. Seeing you a prodigal and open-handed giver, let me give unstintingly like a king's son, like God's own. PRAYER FOR PEACE Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved, as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER You are loved and you see all the suffering, injustice, and misery which reign in this world. Have pity, we implore you, on the work of your hands. Look mercifully on the poor, the oppressed and all who are heavily laden with error, labor and sorrow. Fill our hearts with deep compassion for those who suffer and hasten the coming of your kingdom of justice and truth. USE ME Use me then, my Lord, for whatever purpose and in whatever way you may require. Here is my poor heart, an empty vessel. Fill it with your grace. Here is my troubled soul. Refresh it with your love. Take my heart for your home. Take my mouth to spread your name. Take my love for your people. Always, Lord, let me say, 'Jesus needs me, and I am his'. OTHERS Lord, help me live from day to day in such a self-forgetful way, that even when I kneel to pray, my prayer shall be for 'Others'. Help me in all the work I do, to ever be sincere and true, and know that all I do for You is also done for 'Others'. And when my work on earth is done, and my new work in Heaven’s begun, may I forget the crown I’ve won, while thinking still of 'Others'. 'Others', Lord, yes, 'Others'! Let this my motto be. Help me to live for others, that I may live for Thee. Amen. I WANT TO SAY I'M SORRY I'm not sure how to say I'm sorry. I've thought a lot about what happened. I hurt you and because I did, I hurt myself even more. I want it all to go away, to disappear. For many reasons, you are important to me. I acted like I forgot this. In my moment of weakness, I behaved badly and I want you to know that I didn't mean it. I want to share a smile with you again, to laugh and talk like we used to, and earn back your trust. I want to tell you that I am very sorry. GIVE US ONE MORE CHANCE Somehow we have taken different paths. It didn't happen quickly. I'm not even sure how it happened. We used to speak of we, now it's just you or it's just me. Mistakes were made, hearts were broken, words were said that hurt. And all the while we kept silent about the things that mattered. I'd like to stop the direction that we've taken. I love you and I am unhappy without you. I ask for another chance because we are worth it. GOD THE ARTIST God the Artist, you take the pen and the lines dance. You take the flute and the notes shimmer. You take the brush and the colors sing. So all things have meaning and beauty in that space beyond time where you are. How, then, can I hold back anything from you? FATHER FORGIVE ------------------------------------------------------------- The hatred which divides nation from nation, race from race, class from class, Father, forgive. The covetous desires of men and nations to possess what is not their own, Father, forgive. The greed which exploits the labors of men and lays waste the earth, Father, forgive. Our envy of the welfare and happiness of others, Father, forgive. Our indifference to the plight of the homeless and the refugee, Father, forgive. The lust which uses for ignoble ends the bodies of men and women, Father, forgive. The pride which leads to trust in ourselves and not in God, Father, forgive. WORK OF PEACE ------------------------------------------------------------ Give us courage, O Lord, to stand up and be counted, to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves, to stand up for ourselves when we need to do so. Let us fear nothing more than we fear you. Let us love nothing more than we love you. Let us seek no other peace, but the peace which is yours, and make us an instrument of your peace, opening our eyes and ears and heart so that we should know always what work of peace we may do for you. HELP ME FORGIVE ------------------------------------------------------------ I have been hurt again, O Lord. I am angry and want to hurt back. I want to get even for my hurt. I know there is no remorse and that if there was opportunity, the same thing would be done to me all over again. I want to lash back, even though I know this is not how you want me to react. Oh Lord, my hate and anger can hurt so many people, especially me. But Lord, I can't seem to forgive or change how I feel. Please help me. I pray that you take away my pain and wrongful attitude. JESUS, I LOVE YOU Jesus, how often I think that I am too busy to Pray! My days are over loaded! and yet, JESUS, You surely don't expect me to be so preoccupied. How could I have not the time to think of you? You are always at my side. JESUS, You alone are my strength, my courage, my support. I want to make a habit, Jesus, of speaking to You as a Friend, to confide my joys and sorrows. And so from the bottom of my heart, I want to say simply, JESUS, I LOVE YOU. When I am tired, help me still to say, JESUS, I LOVE YOU! When I find it hard to forgive, I need only to repeat, JESUS, I LOVE YOU! When darkness comes on me, and I don't know where You are, I will call on you and say, JESUS, I LOVE YOU! My daily task will become easier, and my work will become a prayer which says, JESUS, I LOVE YOU! What trouble can shake me, what suffering can overcome me if I can always repeat, JESUS, I LOVE YOU! For the joys you give me, for the graces You shower on me, my thank you will always be, JESUS, I LOVE YOU! Simply to please YOU, for no other reason, let me often say, JESUS, I LOVE YOU! When the evening of my life comes, and You invite me home, let me say for one last time here below, JESUS, I LOVE YOU! And when You call me for judgement, be merciful, Lord, because You know how many times I have said, JESUS, I LOVE YOU!
