ELEGANT TREASURE Can I ever see a rose and not think of you? Can I ever smell its fragrant scent and not know you must be near? Can I ever take in its endless perfections and not better understand you? You, like the rose, cause all to pale in your grace and beauty. I love you and more...I thank God for you. HUSBAND Lord, this is the man I love, the man I love because I know him and all that he is. Please give him the strength of his conviction. He is a proud man. Please give him enough humility to help him remain caring and kind. He is a gentle man. Though he is manly and strong, Lord, never let him hide his real spirit from me. Lord, guide him so he can guide, care for him so he can care, and give him your peace so he can fill our home with the joy and security only you can teach. Amen. WIFE Lord, I ask you to shine your love on my wife. She fills our house with the spirit of a warm and loving home. Give her strength as she does the things that seem to go unnoticed. Give her courage to show her love especially during the times that her efforts seem unappreciated. Give her patience during trials and understanding as I struggle with my weaknesses. Thank you. WE'VE GROWN APART Somehow we have taken different paths. It didn't happen quickly. I'm not even sure when it happened. We used to speak of we. Now it's just you or it's just me. Mistakes were made, hearts were broken, words were said that hurt. I'd like to stop the direction we've taken. I love you and I am unhappy without you. I ask for another chance because we are worth it. MY FRIEND I shook hands with my friend, Lord, and suddenly when I saw his sad and anxious face, I feared that you were not in his heart. I am troubled as I am before a closed tabernacle when there is no light to show that you are there. If you were not there, Lord, my friend and I would be separated. For his hand in mine would be only flesh in flesh and his love for me that of man for man. I want your life for him as well as for me. For it is only in you that he can be my brother. FOR BUSY PEOPLE ------------------------------------------------------------ The Lord is my pace-setter, I shall not rush; he makes me stop and rest for quiet intervals, he provides me with images of stillness which restore my serenity. He leads me in the way of efficiency, through calmness of mind; and his guidance is peace. Even though I have a great many things to accomplish each day I will not fret, for his presence is here. His timelessness, his all-importance will keep me in balance. He prepares refreshment and renewal in the midst of activity, by anointing my mind with his oils of tranquility; my cup of joyous energy overflows. Surely harmony and effectiveness shall be the fruits of my hours and I shall walk in the pace of the Lord and dwell in his house forever. WILL I EVER KNOW YOU? You share smiles, laughter, moments in time. You share warmth, concern and care. You share the brightest part of you. But do I really know you? You hide your feeling, your passion, your commitments. A Mother's Prayer ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lord, I need your help today. I want to care for those you've sent into my life, To help them grow in body, mind, and spirit, To help them develop the special gifts you've given them. But I also want to free them To follow their own paths And bring their loving wisdom To the world. Help me to embrace them without clutching, To support them without suffocating, To correct them without crushing. And help me to live joyfully and playfully Myself so they can see your life in me And find their way to you. A BLESSING TO FRIENDSHIP Father, I ask that you bless my friend! Lord, show a new revelation of Your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence as You work through them. Where there is tiredness or exhaustion, give them understanding, patience, and strength. Where there is spiritual stagnation, renew them by revealing Your nearness and by drawing them into greater intimacy with You. Where there is fear, reveal Your love and release Your courage. Where there is sin, break its hold. Grant the ability to recognize the demonic forces around them, and reveal the power they have in You to defeat them. Bless their finances, give them greater vision, and raise up leaders and friends to support and encourage them. Lord, love them as only you can love. PRAYER FOR THOSE WHO LIVE ALONE --------------------------------------------------------------------------------I live alone, dear Lord, stay by my side. In all my daily needs be Thou my guide. Grant me good health, for that indeed I pray, to carry on my work from day to day. Keep pure my mind, my thoughts, my every deed. Let me be kind and unselfish in my neighbor's need. Spare me from fire, from flood, malicious tongues, from thieves, from fear, and evil ones. If sickness or an accident befall, then humbly, Lord, I pray hear Thou my call. And when I'm feeling low or in despair, lift up my heart and help me in my prayer. I live alone, dear Lord, yet have no fear, because I feel Your Presence ever near. Amen. Prayer for Spouses Lord, grant that my spouse and I may have a true and understanding love for each other and that we may both be filled with faith and trust. Bless us with the ability to live with each other in peace and harmony. May we bear with one another's weaknesses and grow from each other's strengths. Help us to forgive one another's failings and grant us patience, kindness and the spirit of placing the well-being of each other ahead of self.
